Name Political Party Office Running For
Mark C. Carpenter (I) Republican County Commissioner - Pct 3

I moved to Johnson County, as a child, with my family in 1963 and lived here until I graduated from Mansfield High School in 1974. I continued my education at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas with a concentration in general business. I went on to receive my Law Enforcement Certification at the University of Houston Criminal Justice Center in 1982. After receiving my certification, I gained valuable experience working as a Montgomery County Deputy Constable. Then, in 1983, we had the opportunity to return to Johnson County to be closer to family.

My career as a public servant in Johnson County began in 1984 as Constable in precinct 3. I was truly blessed to serve for 12 years as Constable, here in precinct 3, before being elected Commissioner. The law enforcement experience I gained early in my career gave me valuable insight into the needs of our hard-working law enforcement personnel and the need of communities to be safe.

During my term as commissioner, I have earned over 60 hours of professional certification courses relative to the effective administration of county government. In 2004, I was named a Certified Commissioner by the County Judges and Commissioners Association of Texas. The Advanced Certification Program, entitled Curriculum 2000, is a comprehensive, four-year course of study of county government that includes courses covering the functions of every constitutionally designated elected office in the county. I believe strongly in education as a life-long commitment to learning. As we continue to improve ourselves through education, we are also strengthening our communities and building a strong foundation for future generations.

My wife, Ramona and I have been married 30 years and have two wonderful children – Carolyn, a Texas A&M graduate, who is a pharmaceutical sales rep in Athens, Texas and Brian who works for Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.

I appreciate your vote and support in the Republican primary on March 4.
